Our oldest son’s favorite time year is here.
It’s officially baseball season.
He couldn’t wait to get home from school and watch the first Cincinnati Reds game of the year.
The Opening Day game was on TV, and our son was glued to the game.
It was a great game with lots of hits, good strikeouts and three home runs.
One of our son’s favorite parts of a Reds game is when one of their players hits a home run.
He pumps his fists and jumps up and down while the player trots around the bases, fireworks blasting in the air behind them.
But our son especially loves the Reds’ post-home run celebration.
Every time a player hits a home run, they are greeted with something very special in the dugout.
They are given a Viking cloak and helmet to wear.
In the Reds’ Opening Day game, they had three home runs.
On all three home runs, the camera zoomed to the Reds’ dugout to capture the Viking celebration.
And on all three home runs, there was one player who ran out to be the first to celebrate put the Viking garb on them.
It was our son’s favorite player, Jonathan India.
Jonathan didn’t have any spectacular hits or plays in the game.
In fact, I think he only had one hit the whole game.
