Our kids love watching the “hucks” (aka hawks) fly around.
There’s a hawk nest across the street from us.
Several times a day, they swoop down from the tree and patrol the skies above us.
The other day, a huge hawk rested on our fence post.
It sat there for a long time, alternating between looking for chipmunks to scoop up for a snack and watching out kids play.
I couldn’t believe our kids didn’t scare it off.
Our youngest son was especially in awe of it, but also a little frightened at first.
Once he realized it wasn’t going to fly close to him, he let me put him down and went back to playing.
Nature is awesome.
Even though we live in the city, I’m grateful our kids get little glimpses of wildlife like this.
Here’s to looking for ways to connect with nature,
Lauren
